The types and quantity of postsecondary degrees earned have significant implications for the future composition of Arizona’s workforce and the alignment of jobs and skills. Arizona’s employers and economic development efforts both are calling for more graduates in science and engineering fields to meet current demand and continue building a knowledge-based economy that is expected to yield quality jobs and greater overall competitiveness. Educational attainment by age is another important measure of the quality of the labor force that is available to companies. This indicator also demonstrates how younger generations entering the workforce compare to older generations who are exiting the workforce.
