Higher Unemployment Levels Lead to Increased AHCCCS Enrollment
As of June 1st 2010, there were 1,362,585 Arizona residents enrolled in AHCCCS programs. This is an increase of 3,825 (or 8.5%) over a year ago and a 26.2% increase since the beginning of the economic downturn in December 2007. Total AHCCCS enrollment increased by less than 1% from May to June. The reasons for this are unclear since we know that economic conditions are still poor and many are experiencing hardship.
