Ozone
This page displays the number of stations in ozone exceedence in Maricopa County from 1996 to 2006. Although beneficial at high altitudes, ozone at ground level acts as an irritant and is known to increase susceptibility to respiratory infections. It has been identified by the EPA as an indicator of regional environmental health. An ozone exceedance is reported when an 8-hour average exceeds 0.08 parts per million.
