Congregations
Religious congregations are public charities. There are an estimated 3,800 religious congregations in Arizona, of which 3,290 are registered with the IRS. Because congregations are not required to file a yearly 990 return, aggregate data on congregation revenues are unavailable. Congregations received an estimated $1.8 billion in charitable donations in 2012.
