Demographics: Population Basics

Interpreting the Data

Data in the Population Basics tables come from the American Community Survey (ACS) 2006-2010 and require caution for two reasons:

  1. They are multiyear estimates that show what is happening on average over the full period and should not be used to say what is going on in any particular year.
  2. Sampling error is very large for most Arizona counties. Read "A Practical Guide to the American Community Survey" for a nontechnical discussion of the accuracy of the ACS.
