Legislative Appropriations for the Arts
Legislative appropriations provide core support for Arizona art organizations, enhancing quality of life for residents and bolstering the vitality of Arizona's creative economy. Unfortunately, Arizona ranks 48th in arts appropriations per capita. As recently as 2002, Arizona ranked 25th on this measure.

These data are compiled by the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies and reflect legislative funds appropriated to state arts agencies only. Legislative funding to other arts entities (such as state universities or other state departments) are not included. State arts agencies also receive other state funds, federal funds from the National Endowment for the Arts, and private funds. These data are for the State fiscal year which begins in July and runs through the end of June.
