STEM Education Measures Overview
Founded in 2006, Science Foundation Arizona (SFAz) is a 501(c)(3), public/private non-profit organization created from the collaboration of three Arizona CEO business organizations – Greater Phoenix Leadership, Southern Arizona Leadership, and the Flagstaff 40.
SFAz’s purpose is to diversify and strengthen Arizona’s economy by:
- Investing in scientific and engineering areas of greatest economic importance to Arizona
- Facilitating strategic collaborations between Arizona research institutions and industry
- Supporting effective education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)
- Attracting and retaining world-class jobs and talent
The Arizona STEM Network, led by Science Foundation Arizona, is a collaboration of businesses, educators, government and philanthropy with a common agenda to graduate more Arizona students prepared for the global economy through STEM education.
- Vision: Arizona will be recognized in the global marketplace for a STEM literate workforce that stimulates the economy.
- Mission: Facilitate a statewide Network of organizations with a common goal to graduate more students ready to succeed in the global marketplace.
- Objective: Enhance collaboration to create engagement and transformative change in the state of Arizona for STEM education and training.
- Value Proposition: Providing educators, donors, government and business leaders with the resources needed to make a measurable improvement in STEM education for students across the state.
The STEM Education Measures compile important statewide data regarding STEM education from 4th grade through University. The indicators include information on both student interest and assessment.
The indicators should be used to drive discussions regarding where to best place limited resources to improve STEM education in Arizona.
